The BHS cafeteria has recently seen the return of a fan favorite: the sandwich and wrap station. Lines stretch out across the commons during lunchtime as students eagerly await to feast on their delicious meal.

“The wraps are back by popular demand. Before the pandemic, they were extremely popular among the students and staff,” said Food Service Worker Hyejong Bono. “The fact they were made-to-order made them a favorite for everyone.”

The wrap station was discontinued for the last two years because of health protocols from the COVID-19 pandemic. Bono said that there haven’t been changes in in the way the wraps are prepared since the station returned a few weeks ago.

Students have made it clear that sandwiches and wraps are a highlight of their day.

“I think it adds variety and it is something I look forward to everyday. I would say that for me, it’s a 100% improvement from regular lunches,” said junior Casey Maymon as he was waiting in line for his order. With much enthusiasm, Maymon described his order: A sandwich with salami, lettuce, and tomato.

Sophomore Carter Moore agrees with Maymon’s sentiments, claiming that the return of the sandwich and wrap station is the “best thing to happen to the school.”

“It absolutely destroys regular lunch,” Moore said, describing the triumph of the station. In between bites of his wrap, Moore ecstatically went into detail of the ingredients of his lunch: a wrap with turkey and ham, American cheese, lettuce, bell pepper, and chipotle mayo.

“The wraps are really good, but the line is really long,” said Senior Carson Rutt. “It’s better than the normal lunch.”

“I really like it because it gives a healthier option during lunch,” said senior Nitya Bam. “It actually tastes good because I control what goes in it.” Bam described her order: a wrap with turkey, American cheese, lettuce, onion, jalapeños, and chipotle mayo.

Should students want a wrap, and don’t mind the wait, they should head towards the center of the commons during lunch. If the center of the commons proves hard to find, one should look no further than the large crowd.

Once one finds the crowd, one finds the wraps.
