Mr. Roberts did his student teaching at Stafford High School and learned new teaching habits that help him out today. He recently graduated from ECSU this past may and was eager to start a new teaching job. BHS welcomed him with open arms, he said.
“All my colleagues have made me feel welcome here. This includes my department, the administration, and all the other teachers. They’ve offered good advice, and I’m also making some friends” Roberts said.
So far he said that he enjoys it here a lot. The location is perfect for him because there’s a lot to do around town, and he’s close to his family. The math department has been very supportive to him and the teachers have very interesting personalities.
He was inspired to be a math teacher ever since he was a little kid. Knowing that he always wanted a job in math, and eventually choosing teaching so he could get others to find enjoyment in math. He teaches Algebra I and Geometry.
As a new teacher he has new goals for himself. He hopes to have good class management, get plenty of sleep every night, and give the best effort he can give. So far Mr. Roberts has made the adjustment from student to teacher a great one. Editor’s note: This article is part of a series of profiles on the new teachers at Branford High School this year.
